What to do if the piston rod gets too hot during injection molding?

> Application: An injection molding machine where heat input on the piston rod is unavoidable leads to failures time and again. Until now, standard block cylinders with high-temperature seals have been used.

>> Our solution: A water-cooled block cylinder. The cylinder can be connected to the cooling circuit of the injection molding machine via ports K1+K2.

Decomposition of the hydraulic oil can be prevented by means of a cooling coil, which keeps the piston running surface at temperatures compatible with hydraulic oil.

Excessive temperatures in the hydraulic oil cause it to decompose and form aggressive substances that directly attack the seals.

Even modern sealants cannot withstand this attack permanently and suffer damage. Special high-temperature hydraulic oils are sometimes available, but they are a major cost factor. Furthermore, it is often not possible, especially with small piston diameters, to get sufficient fresh and cool oil into the cylinder. The volumes of hosing or piping are often too large for this, which means that even oil coolers in the circuit have no effect.

! Our actively coolable block cylinders prevent these problems and ensure safe operation. We can offer cooling in two variants:

1) Block cylinders, which can replace our BLZ400 one-to-one. Retrofitting existing machines is no problem with this.

2) Cylinders that carry hydraulic oil and cooling water in different housings can ensure maximum process reliability with the aid of consistent media separation.

However, this variant requires somewhat more space.
